When a man is at his wits' end, it is not a cowardly thing to pray; it is the only way he can get in touch with Reality.
    –Oswald Chambers

    Prayer Tip
Walk and pray. Do a prayer walk through your neighborhood.
Create a map of your street and immediate area, writing in the names of the individuals/families that you know. As you learn more names, pencil them in on your map. Walk through your neighborhood, praying as you go. Be friendly to any you meet and ready to listen. If a problem or need is expressed, let your neighbor know you will be praying for them.

    THE CRY
    By Steve Ares

"Our prayer and God's mercy are like two buckets in a well; while the one ascends the other descends." - Mary Hopkins

In Psalm 107 (NIV), we find beautiful examples of God's grace and care. In the following three portions of this chapter, you will see - our actions, our cry, and God's mercy:

Psalm 107:10 - "Some sat in darkness and the deepest gloom, prisoners suffering in iron chains, 11 for they had rebelled against the words of God and despised the counsel of the Most High. 13 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble and he saved them from their distress. 14 He brought them out of darkness and the deepest gloom and broke away their chains."

Psalm 107: 17 - "Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities. 19 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. 20 He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave."

Psalm 107:26 - "They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in their peril their courage melted away. 27 They reeled and staggered like drunken men; they were at their wits' end. 28 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. 29 He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. 30 They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven."

You may find it hard to call on the Lord, because your spirit is more frustrated than "faith-filled." Or you may feel "away" from God, because you've been "less-than-faithful." It's so true, that we often feel His presence the least - when we need His power the most. But thankfully, we can be reunited with His power, because Psalm 107 shows us that God is Faithful even to the Unfaithful - when they call on Him.

You may believe that you have to be perfect in every Christian-way for God to hear you. The truth is that with a merciful heart, God tenderly searches the earth, listening and longing to respond to the cries of His children. So even though you may have failed God in your past, He can start to work in your present. The Word says He will: Save you from your distresses, Bring you out of darkness and the deepest gloom, Break away your chains, Send forth His word and heal you, And still your storms in life to a whisper.

Remember the words of Richard Bach, when he said, "What the Caterpillar calls the end of the world, the Master calls a butterfly." It may seem to us like the "end," but to the Master, it's a glorious new beginning.

    PRAYING THROUGH THE BIBLE
    From World Network of Prayer

World Network of Prayer now offers PDF files that you can download/view which provide personal prayer focus each month.

Below is an example taken from the January prayer focus:

    FIRST FOCUS:

    • Joy is essential to a Christian. The joy of the Lord is our strength! (Nehemiah 8:10).
    • Prayer and joyful worship go together. When all the prayers and intercessions of the saints are gathered together and presented before the throne of God it is done with harps and a song.
    • For this entire first month of a new year, let us determine to rejoice in the God of our salvation! “Yet I will joy in the God of my salvation" (Habakkuk 3:18).

    A MILITARY WIFE'S PRAYER

Give me the greatness of heart to see,
The difference between duty and his love for me.
Give me understanding so that I may Know,
When duty calls him, he must go.
Give me a task to do each day,
To fill the time when he's away.
When he's in a foreign land,
Keep him safe in your loving hand.
And Lord, when duty is in the field,
Please protect him and be his shield.
And Lord, when deployment is so long,
Please stay with me and keep me strong.

    Why?
    J. R. Ensey
Both believers and unbelievers often have questions about Christian doctrine and lifestyle. Here are ten questions that deserve honest answers: • Why do Apostolics have to be different? • Why do Apostolics embrace the Bible as the Word of God? • Why do Apostolics teach monotheism? • Why do Apostolics emphasize repentance and water baptism in the name of Jesus? • Why do Apostolics receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? • Why do Apostolics disengage from a worldly lifestyle? • Why do Apostolics abandon or avoid harmful personal practices? • Why do Apostolics choose modest apparel and shun ornamental jewelry? • Why do Apostolic ladies refrain from cutting their hair and wearing cosmetics? • Why do Apostolics live with a blessed hope?
