THE
CRY

"Our prayer and God's mercy are like two buckets in a
well; while the one ascends the other descends." - Mary
Hopkins
In Psalm 107 (NIV), we find beautiful examples of God's
grace and care. In the following three portions of this
chapter, you will see - our actions, our cry, and God's
mercy:
Psalm 107:10 - "Some sat in darkness and the deepest gloom,
prisoners suffering in iron chains, 11 for they had rebelled
against the words of God and despised the counsel of the Most
High. 13 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble and he
saved them from their distress. 14 He brought them out of
darkness and the deepest gloom and broke away their
chains."
Psalm 107: 17 - "Some became fools through their rebellious
ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities. 19
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved
them from their distress. 20 He sent forth his word and healed
them; he rescued them from the grave."
Psalm 107:26 - "They mounted up to the heavens and went
down to the depths; in their peril their courage melted away.
27 They reeled and staggered like drunken men; they were at
their wits' end. 28 Then they cried out to the LORD in their
trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. 29 He
stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were
hushed. 30 They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided
them to their desired haven."
You may find it hard to call on the Lord, because your
spirit is more frustrated than "faith-filled." Or you may feel
"away" from God, because you've been "less-than-faithful."
It's so true, that we often feel His presence the least - when
we need His power the most. But thankfully, we can be reunited
with His power, because Psalm 107 shows us that God is
Faithful even to the Unfaithful - when they call on Him.
You may believe that you have to be perfect in every
Christian-way for God to hear you. The truth is that with a
merciful heart, God tenderly searches the earth, listening and
longing to respond to the cries of His children. So even
though you may have failed God in your past, He can start to
work in your present. The Word says He will: Save you from
your distresses, Bring you out of darkness and the deepest
gloom, Break away your chains, Send forth His word and heal
you, And still your storms in life to a whisper.
Remember the words of Richard Bach, when he said, "What the
Caterpillar calls the end of the world, the Master calls a
butterfly." It may seem to us like the "end," but to the
Master, it's a glorious new beginning.
